Description
of the trip:
The
journey starts at Brussels - Midi station. When departing the station
you will see a Eurostar parked at the special Eurostar platform
at Brussels - Midi station.
For
the next minutes the train will drive over the conventional track
with a speedlimit of about 140 km/h. After this it will reach the
high speed line where it will speed up to 300km per hour.
When
it arrives on the highspeedline, the traindriver will switch to
another power voltage, 25000 Volt. You can hear that, because the
airconditioning is turned off and on again. Immediatly you will
feel the pulling of the locomotives to get the train to the 300
km per hour.
You
can see the train running faster on the decreasing timeperiods between
the passing of the power gantries. These gantries are about 42 meters
from eachother.

Just
after entering the highspeedline, a Thalys TGV from the opposite
direction passes by...
During
the trip several TGVs, Eurostars and Thalys trains will pass by
at high speed. Because "our" train has a speed of 300
km/h, these trains passes by with 600 km per hour (300 km/h + 300
km/h = 600 km/h)
You
will see further tunnels, a lot of bridges and viaducts and also
the scenery of the world outside the train. Near Lille the tracks
switch also to the direction of Lille and London. You see the tracks
for this direction going into the distance....
When
passing the TGV station Haute Picardie there is a TGV Atlantique
from Bordeaux on the platform ready to depart to Lille Europe.

It
will cross the A1 Lille - Paris highway several times. You can see
all the cars and trucks almost at a standstill in comparison to
our train. |
